ERCOT (Texas) Demand Response Program Services

Lone Star Demand Response, LLC works with the Electricity Reliability Counsel of Texas (ERCOT) to provide Commercial and Industrial electricity end-users with Demand/Response Programs which pay your company for being “on call” to reduce your electricity usage when the ERCOT grid is stressed with high-demand, versus available electricity generation, or severe weather impacts (or both):

ERCOT Load Resource ('LR' or 'LaaR')

 Basic requirements for LR participation

(LR pays a high hourly revenue to customers, but has greater technical requirements for participation):

 1) Direct Load Control or approved Energy Management System, which allows instantaneous electricity curtailments in an ERCOT grid emergency.

2) An Under Frequency Relay (UFR) for ERCOT grid frequency deviations, which threaten a Commercial or Industrial end-user's infrastructure investment.

 3) Sub-10 minute performance time for completing an ERCOT LR curtailment, either by Lone Star Demand Response Operations and Dispatch, or instantaneously when initiated by a UFR curtailment.

                                                                                                      4) At least 100kw of electricity load in 100kw / 0.1 MW increments.

5) An IDR utility-grade electricity meter capable of 15 minute interval load data reporting.

6) Participation in an annual hour-long live curtailment test, if no LR event occurs in the previous 12 months.

ERCOT Emergency Response Service ('ERS')

 Basic requirements for ERS participation

(ERS pays slightly less than LR to customers, but has easier participation requirements):

1)Sub-30 minute performance time for completing an ERCOT ERS curtailment, by the ERS customer participant, or if desired, optional Direct Load Control curtailment by Lone Star Demand Response Operations and Dispatch.

2) At least 100kw of electricity load in 100kw / 0.1 MW increments.

3) An IDR utility-grade electricity meter capable of 15 minute interval load data reporting.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  4) An annual hour-long live curtailment test, on the annual anniversary of your company's first four-month participation in ERS.
